Comfort Cases for Children In Foster Care

During Lent, we will once again collect items for the Comfort Cases backpack program. Hundreds of children enter foster care each day and many enter the system with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The Comfort Cases organization believes that every child should have their own bag of belongings. Comfort Cases assembles backpacks filled with comfort/personal care items for children entering foster care (www.comfortcases.org). During Lent we will be collecting the following items for the backpacks.

  • Shampoo and conditioner (travel size)
  • Body wash or soap (travel size)
  • Lotion (travel size)
  • Deodorant (travel size)
  • Toothbrushes (youth and adult, 1-3 pack only)
  • Toothpaste (travel size)
  • Baby wipes
  • Baby washcloths
  • Baby bibs
  • Baby lotion and diaper cream
  • Blankets (30” x 40” or smaller)
  • Pajamas (no nightgowns) All sizes needed – from newborn thru Adult XL
  • Coloring books and crayons
  • Stuffed animals (12” or smaller)

(Please note, all items must be new; toiletries must be travel-size to fit in the backpacks)

Look for our Comfort Collection container in the narthex on Sunday mornings. Monetary donations towards items are also appreciated. Contact Leslie Hinkle with any questions (Lhinkle123@aol.com or 301-717-7033). Thank you!
